Child Care Assistance Program
Child Care Assistance is available to families who meet income guidelines and are working or working and attending school a minimum of 20 hours per week. Federal Child Care and Development Block Grant funds help low-income families pay for the child care as they work, attend school or both. The program will help pay child care costs to providers who meet certain criteria. The family may be required to make a co-payment based on the household income and family size. If the assistance still does not cover the providers rates, the provider may bill you accordingly. All providers must be at least 18 years of age and meet other criteria established through the Division of Child Care Services. An eligible family with an absent parent must open and maintain an active collection case with the Division of Child Support within six months of initial child care assistance eligibility. A case must be opened against the absent parent of every child within the family's household.
